5009 Introduction to Design (2/2) theory, fundamental course for undergraduates
Students who are going to specialize in design have the opportunity to think about what design is in general and in terms of necessary knowledge and attitude. The students will understand practical design through theory study from textbooks and various mass media. Students who specialize in design will understand the concepts, principles and basic components of design and learn a sense of shaping in general, so that they have an understanding of the various fields of design and can foster the disposition of future designers.
The course is organized to provide a simple picture of the meaning and range of the term 'design' in the current, rapidly changing, modern society and to give students a general understanding of the various fields of design. Students will look into the history of design and the course Korean design has followed, and ponder upon the interaction of design and the environment and the future of design. Also, to understand various theories and data related to practical design. Emphasis is placed on more understanding of each field through the presentation of a real investigations.

5010 2-Dimensional Design (3/2) theory+practice, major elective
For students who intend to become, or are already, practicing painters, Illustrators, graphic designers and animators, this course will help you to discover, or rediscover, a personal awareness of the organizational aspects of two-dimentional image making.
Basic Design components such as line, shape, value, color ,rhythm and balance will be investigated though in-class and home assignments. This fundamental course offers an opportunity to explore the expressive capabilities of these basic elements, while creating a personal, visual vocabulary. Students will use a variety of mediums.
Recommended for beginners.

when we look all around, we can see colors that occupy all of our surroundings. People who live in apartments are wrapped up in many colors from head to toe. Consequently, color occupies an important place. ((As the ability to modulate coloration or color control for raising the function and the effect of color is cultivated by the education of arts, we can make double our national competitive power. from this point of view, the education of color is treated deep into the university curriculum in the period of the most abundant sensibility.

4410 2D Computer Graphic Design1 (4/3) Theory +Practice, Lab experimentation, major elective
This course is an introduction to using a Macintosh computer as a creative tool for students. Adobe Illustrator program is used for Illustration, multimedia, web design, animation, digital video and fine art.
Illustrator is one of the most popular object oriented software packages. It is used for illustration, technical drawing and even animation. This workshop will review all of the program's capabilities through hands-on exercises. Precise control of curves and the use of color will be discussed in detail. During this class, there will be critiques of student work and discussions regarding the use of computers in the creative professions.
Recommended for beginners.

This course is an introduction to using a Macintosh computer as a creative tool for students. Adobe Photoshop program is used for Illustration, multimedia, web design, animation, digital video and fine art.
Adobe Photoshop is capable of manipulating photographic images to the point where they no longer resemble the original artwork: brown eyes digitally become blue, buildings are moved around a city, or combined with buildings from other cities to create composite urban-scapes. Photoshop allows image files to be viewed with photo-realistic quality on screen and enhanced with powerful tools that closely resemble and function like their darkroom counterparts. Students will scan images and learn how to use the filtering capabilities, interactive brightness and contrast controls and other advanced tools. Designers will find a new level of sophistication in editing scanned images that will directly benefit their current production techniques.
Recommended for beginners.

Involves the use of typography to create meaning, experiments in typographic composition, contrast, text, and value in both Korean and English. Study of the technical aspects of typography and historical developments in typography.

An emphasis is placed on managing the essential approaches for students who study design to learn the theory, concept, and visual language such as the techniques necessary for creating a shape.
By means of a project to develop a range of design ideas and creative ability in an organic approach and doubling educational efficacy in various majors, it is a basic course designed to cultivate skills as a designer. Originality is an indispensable part of problem-solving. Therefore, the basic course represents various designs across all fields of design with repetitive expression in a systemic learning program.

3256 New Media Theory (4/3) theory+practice, major requirement
In an era of change, new media culture, cultural patterns, and new concepts in new media technology and technique are appearing along with the development of technology and design. We can experience this in various media art works and design works of form in the field of art such as movies, etc. This class studies these changes properly within a theoretical framework, accommodates creative interpretation, and will offer ideas on how to apply this effectively. To understand new media, necessary works like Gwahakgisuliron and theory that is literae humaniores, and historic background is covered and discussed. Various artistic, pictorial, analyzes and studies from the Mihakjeok viewpoint will lead students to original reflection.
Designs that utilize the art medium or media art, new media found in modern society will be examined. Through historic study and Inmunjeok theory how the digital media has changed will be studied. Necessary concepts and principles will be systematically analyzed to understand new media work of arts and design works.
In particular, various virtual reality media works will be approached and analyzed as aesthetic advances from Yeongsangmidieo's birth, and the digitization process of media, digital painting, media Inseutolreisyeon, Wepateu, game art etc..

To help students increase their knowledge about film & digital photography skills and to help students to learn about photography lighting & the manipulation of digital images in design
This is a course for novice photographers and relative beginners, that covers the handling of cameras and equipment. This course is an introduction to basic lighting techniques applied to basic advertising photography. Students learn to analyze a lighting set up and to exercise applications in various situations. Lectures and demonstrations introduce students to portrait photography, small product photography and still life photography with daylight and tungsten light systems. Students also become acquainted with digital photography by understanding the digital input and output relations, and the manipulation of digital images for design
